And actual heart comes to a point at the bottom and has two rounder atria at the top. Over time, the icon became simplified and more symmetrical representation of the heart. (Real hearts are lumpier, lopsided, and less iconic unless you take the time to render them in lots of detail)

This happens to lots of icons, where an image becomes simplified but people still recognize the meaning behind it, even if they haven’t seen the item that the icon originally represented. (a good recent example are kids who recognize the save icon 💾 but have never seen a floppy; as we move further from the age of floppy disk, that icon grows more abstract and simplified)
