Why are home trash compactors no longer popular?

I have a trash compactor, and it works great. A weeks worth of kitchen and household trash squeeze into a 2 x 2 bag that gets tossed in the trashcan and wheeled out to the street.
It just squishes everything into a nice, neat package that’s easy to handle.
I will never be without a trash compactor again.
