Why are humans so physically weak compared to other animals?

For instance, most of us would have a very hard time surviving in the wild. And even then, we need tools in order to survive. Our physical strength is weak compared to many other animals. Why are we so weak compared to other wild animals who have no problem surviving on their own?

We evolved the capacity for abstraction, then artifice, as a result of not having, say, Sabre teeth. Or being a ton of muscle fronted by teeth and claws. As it turns out, the capacity for abstract thought makes us apex predators. The social bonds we have evolved with make us good at crowdsourcing solutions to problems. Thermoregulation means we can adapt to any climate. And as far as we know, we’re the only lifeform that has memes. That being said, here’s my favourite physical human superpower:
