Why are humans the only animals that need to wipe? Did hunter-gatherers walk with dirty butts?

I think diet has a lot to do with it. If animals eat what they should eat they probably poop without leaving a bunch stuck to their ass. Same with humans. Sometimes you can wipe and its basically clean on the TP. Also if you evacuate completely and not pinch it off when only half came out helps.
Of course I could be full of shit too. I’ll let you decide.
