It’s only been early this year that researchers have found microplastics in the human bloodstream, and it’s going to take a lot more time and research to know the full consequences of plastic pollution running rampant in our bodies and elsewhere. For now, their presence in the bloodstream is just another indicator of how far-reaching plastic pollution has grown. How our bodies handle it will be interesting (and a little scary) to see.
