Does it have to do with accuracy?

Fun fact: digital scales weigh weight and those mechanical slide scales actually measure mass. What’s the difference? A mechanical scale would still be accurate on the moon while a digital would real about 1/3rd. Mass is intrinsic to the object. Weight is a measure of the force of gravity between 2 objects. On earth we see them as interchangeable because the force of gravity is nearly constant.
