Why are old apps like doodle jump still being updated?

I just saw another update for that game. Shouldnt the code after all these years be “perfected”? Or are these just compatibility updates for new iOS versions and device models?

There are a lot of background resources being updated. When the phone OS is updated it will change things called libraries and API’s that the app uses, the app needs to be modified to function with these changes if needed. Also, as new security threats are discovered they need to be updated to prevent exploitation of vulnerabilities.

Also, if an old app is still generating revenue the developer will add new content and features to keep the user base from getting bored and leaving.
