Why is picking pimples around the triangle of death not advised but piercings like the Medusa, nose and bridge piercings not made a deal out of? Are piercings somehow not as bad or what?

It’s the same risk, it’s just a small risk. You shouldn’t *really* do either if you want to be safe.

But usually if people get a piercing, part of that process is being educated about how to care for it and prevent infection. They usually take extra care to prevent it. Additionally, the people doing the piercings usually use sterilized tools and treat it more or less like a medical procedure.

On the other hand, a lot of times people pop pimples thoughtlessly without even washing their hands. Since the danger is, “an infection could travel to your brain through the sinus cavities”, doing that carries some risk.

But it’s still a really small risk, so you generally don’t hear about it happening a lot. I looked at a handful of internet articles before committing to this answer, and all of them had in common that they pointed out you don’t need to start making arrangements if you accidentally scratch a pimple *and* all of them mentioned that piercings in those areas are also not great ideas. They suggested in either case if you have a wound in that area you should make sure it stays clean and if you start to develop an infection visit a doctor without delay.

But it’s not a thing that’s (as far as I know) considered so dangerous it’s regulated beyond the normal regulations around people who perform piercings. It’s their job to use clean tools and educate their clients. If the clients are careless, a lot of them still turn out OK.
