why are sheets still cold even if you’ve been under think blankets that are supposed to trap in heat?

I’ve always been confused about this because I sleep under many thick soft blankets yet my sheets always seem to be cold when they should warm up from being trapped in my body heat.

it also depends on the material the sheets are made from. a percale cotton or linen sheet will feel cool by design. a flannel sheet will feel warmer by design.
