Why are spherical satellites MORE prone to tidal lock than irregular ones? Shouldn’t it be the other way around?

Spherical satellites tend to be large, original satellites that have been with their primary since they both formed billions of years ago. They’ve had a long time to lock up. Irregular satellites have to be small and are much more likely to be relatively recent captures. They haven’t had long to lock up and they tend to orbit farther from the primary. Tides are an inverse cube law phenomenon.
