Why are the pores on the nose and surrounding areas so big?

They aren’t for everyone. Some people have no visible pores on their noses at all.
Your dna comes from your parents and if they have large pores you will be more likely to have them too.

Underneath the surface of your skin, there are pockets that produce oil. These oil producing pockets are called glands. The ones on your face are called sebaceous glands and they’re the same ones that oil your hair. These glands are known to be larger on and around the nose, their size depending heavily on genetics. These larger glands help produce more skin oil (sebum) which in turn is believed to act as a barrier against microbes and helps better regulate temperature of the skin.
I do not believe we understand what exactly causes these glands to be larger in certain areas of the face.

It’s just a feature like of the human face. Like why do we have less hair on our face than our head? Because that’s how we evolved there may be some evolutionary advantage to this or maybe early in our evolution when therere wasn’t very many of us someone got that trait and it’s dominant so they passed it on to a large percentage of the human race and if someone doesn’t have it your not likely to know unless you sequence their genome and figure out what gene that is
