The other thing is when you’re trying to kill something with chemicals, you’re usually trying to stop some part of it from functioning in a way that causes it to die.

Ticks are closer related to us than fungi, viruses, or bacteria, so we have to find some part of them to kill that’s not also going to kill us and it’s a much smaller list with a lot more overlap. So if you could make it so their body can’t filter out a certain toxin that humans and dogs are a little better at filtering, but it’s still going to hurt a little, it’s just gonna hurt the tick more.

It’s worth it for the dog because they like to roll in grass and drink sketchy pond water and you can never convince them to keep their pants tucked into their socks. Humans can do all of those things, so it’s better to just do those.
