Why are vaccines in shot form as opposed to a pill?

By being a shot they can pass their payload of dead virus bits the immune system can recognize directly into the body. If it was a pill then it would get digested along the way, which isn’t something they can generally withstand. Being broken down by acid would prevent them doing what is needed, so they aren’t able to be ingested.
