Why are we less picky and more open-minded about what we eat as we age?

I think there’s less fear there. We’ve learned by adulthood that something tasting icky for a minute isn’t going to hurt us in any way that matters if it’s food people normally eat. This allows us to perceive the “gross” flavor more for what it is, without an instinctual, fear-based reaction to insta-spit it out and start crying.

The more meals you eat the more you tend to try ingredients. You travel, try a local dish, and the ingredient you for sure didn’t like is a perfect addition when cooked in this way or that way.

you are more open-minded about a lot of stuff when you get older. You’ve generally experienced more, so “new things” are not as crazy as to a kid who has barely dabbled in anything.
