Your subconscious mind thinks it’s real. As far as your brain is concerned if you saw something traumatic, you saw something traumatic. You’re essentially traumatizing yourself and calling it entertainment.

Additionally, our brains are wired to react to sudden sounds and movement. The producers use this fact to create the response they want. BOO!

my guess is that in the past, those who were scared by warnings given by fellow tribe members were more likely to survive, and that horror movies trigger that response
