Like, instead of tasers, live ammunition, etc, why isn’t there some sort of investment in making tranquilizer guns to incapacitate criminals?

In addition to everything stated here tranquilizer guns are inaccurate, unwieldy and unreliable in function and therefore are not adequate for self defense
