Peeling the banana breaks open a lot of the cells which cause it to brown faster. You can see this if you take a banana slice part of it into rounds while still in the peel the skin will only brown where you cut it and the rest is fine. Alternatively, you can take a banana and scratch a message or picture onto the skin with a pin. After about an hour your scratchings will turn brown and become visible.
