Why Can Humans Grow a Whole Baby but Not Grow a Whole Finger Back?

How is it that we can develop whole people inside of our own bodies, but our bodies couldn’t make another finger if we lose it?

There is a strong evolutionary advantage to being able to create another human – after all, without it the species would die out. Strong enough to offset the complexity of highly specialized organs, and the many downsides associated with the reproductive system.

Losing a finger sucks, but for the most part doesn’t seriously affect your ability to reproduce. Someone that somehow mutated the freak ability to regrow a finger would not have a substantially greater liklihood of reproducing – thus those traits aren’t more likely to be passed on than the standard no-regrow genes. Furthermore, the specialized cells and structures required to rebuild a finger would likely come with at least some downsides.

How come at an auto-assembly plant they can put together a while car, but I can’t even change my oil?

We don’t have the right mechanisms in place at every part of our body to properly assemble the full thing in location. We don’t even have mechanisms in our body to figure out what is missing.

It just isn’t built to do that.

Our bodies are made up of cells that have special abilities. We don’t have the cells that grant us the ability to regrow our own appendages.

Sperm and Egg is creative fuel for baby. Losing finger is destructive, no creative fuels to bring it back.

Genetic information. Our genes determine our abilities and they’re the ones that determine what we are as people and our limits as well as our potential. We have genetic information to grow nails back but not an entire limb back. Period! It’s like computer programming and why your computer might show you an imagine of a place but it lacks the ability to transport you there. There are limits to the computer because it was given a certain code and certain functions with physical limitations given to it. Same thing with humans. We have the organs to reproduce and the genetic information to grow a person but we lack the same mechanism to grow back limbs. We haven’t evolved to do that yet and our limited DNA keeps us from it at the moment.
