Your tongue spends all its time in your mouth. It knows its way around. You not only know where everything is in your mouth with your tongue, you know what its supposed to feel like and be shaped like since your tongue touches it all the time. Your finger is a visitor that stops by for a tour occasionally. Your tongue can also soften and flex more than your finger to fit better into the crevices of your teeth.
