Because you cant get better than optimal performance.

Sleeping lets your body reset and operate under optimal conditions, to the best of its ability.

Its the same as asking “my computer gets faster if i restart it after it has been working for a week, so why doesnt it get even faster if i leave it turned off for 5 days?”.

You dont get better than optimal.
