Why can we not remember everything?

So basically our brain is this super awesome thing that does a lot of work for us. But memory is kind of weird. I can remember like 2 or 3 scenes from back when I was just a little child but I can’t even remember what I ate for lunch a week ago. Also I still know the name of some games I played 10+ years ago but have forgotten some games that I played only like 5 years ago. Why is our memory so limited and why are there things I remeber that are absolutely randomly.

You can memorize insane amount of information if try ina correct way. Repetition is usually pretty bad. Google something like a memory palace. People remember places better than other things connecting memories to paces makes recalling very easy
