So basically our brain is this super awesome thing that does a lot of work for us. But memory is kind of weird. I can remember like 2 or 3 scenes from back when I was just a little child but I can’t even remember what I ate for lunch a week ago. Also I still know the name of some games I played 10+ years ago but have forgotten some games that I played only like 5 years ago. Why is our memory so limited and why are there things I remeber that are absolutely randomly.

Humans can. There are 6 known people with amazing memories. Marilu Henner, a tv star in the 70s is one. You can find videos of her demonstrating it. She can remember for any date what she ate, wore, did, etc.
She seems to suffer no I’ll effects from it. So it is unclear if there is a reason everyone can’t do it besides those 6 is because it is bad in some way or that mutation just hasn’t spread.
