Medication can be harmful or fatal in large doses. They make them taste bad so children don’t *want* to take them. If you look up ChubbyEmu on youtube, there’s an episode of a child who at vitamin gummies because he thought they were candy. It almost severely damaged his bones.

It’s worth noting that many drugs [by their nature](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3772669/) taste bitter:

Our taste buds are very sensitive to bitter, and there’s nothing you can really do to the substance to mask the taste.
