The plants that were domesticated to make oranges are *from* southeast Asia so I doubt that’s the case. That region isn’t the primary global supply though – production locations closer to the western world have taken dominance over the years with large plantations in the US, Mexico, Spain, and Turkey.

Apples are a deciduous cold-weather tree that wouldn’t do well in a tropical environment.
