Why can’t find things at the time we’re trying to find them but can find them when we are not?

Confirmation bias.

99% of the time when you’re looking for something, you find it. But you remember the 1% of the times you can’t find. Also, 99% of the time when you find something you don’t at the moment, you just put it away and move on. 1% of the time it happens to be something you were looking for in the past, so you remember it.
