Why can’t Ligeti’s Hungarian Rock for solo harpsichord be played solo on the piano?

Or should I say, why would it lose musical value if such a thing was done?

I mean, according to who?  Because of how a piano works, there are very few things that can’t be played on it, and harpsichord doesn’t really cross into that territory. It would simply sound like a piano, instead of a harpsichord. Is this a well-known claim? I couldn’t find anything about it.
