Why can’t some phone apps be moved to an SD card?

Some apps are built-in and will stay there no matter what, and some need the faster read-write speed of your phone’s internal storage (SD cards are relatively slow), and some are too important for the phone’s functionality to be on something removable.

There are a few ways to force this if you’re ok with the consequences: https://techcult.com/force-move-apps-to-an-sd-card-in-android/

Worst part is, even if you move apps to sdcards, it’s only ever a small part of the cache/data that moves to the card the bulk of the app still fills up the phone/tablet main storage.
Got myself a 32gb card for my sons tablet to move games because it was running slowly from being overfilled.. Moving 15 games gave maybe 0,5gb. the games where between 200mb and 1.5gb each

Performance and reliability are the reasons. Also the developer need to enable it, which they don’t do because its not worth it. You can force them to move to the sd through the developer settings. I do not recommend doing that, move your photos and videos, but not apps. Also like another user suggested, use the web version if you are really this thight on storage
