Why can’t we pull CO² from the air to carbonate beverages?

I just saw a post on Facebook about a supermarket whose shelves are low on pops and carbonated waters because of a CO² shortage. What’s to stop people from pulling CO² from the air and cleaning it of impurities to use it in the drink manufacturing process?

the answer to most “what prevents people from doing ____?” is money. if it was cost effective, CO2 capture could be scaled in the next few years. but the economics aren’t there and corporations don’t make decisions based on morals
