Why can’t we pull CO² from the air to carbonate beverages?

I just saw a post on Facebook about a supermarket whose shelves are low on pops and carbonated waters because of a CO² shortage. What’s to stop people from pulling CO² from the air and cleaning it of impurities to use it in the drink manufacturing process?

To pull CO2 from the air it has to be separated from all the other gasses in the air. The CO2 used for drinks is produced chemically and is already pure. If CO2 removed from the air was used for a drink that drink would become ludicrously expensive

That’s absolutely possible, but it also takes so much power that more CO2 is produced generating the power you need than is captured.

It’s neither economically feasible nor helpful to the environment.
