Memory is a weird thing, and we still don’t know everything about it. Generally though, you’re more likely to remember things you’ve been studying for a long time, as they are more encoded in your long-term memory. Cramming is inefficient because your brain can’t just photocopy everything it sees in one sitting, it needs time to digest that information slowly and build deeper connections with it over time. Plus, stress, exhaustion and rushing yourself all negatively affect your ability to remember as well.
