Why can’t you take alcohol dehydrogenase pills to immediately sober up?

Alcohol dehydrogenase is an enzyme, made up of proteins. Your stomach acid and intestines are really, really good at breaking down enzymes into their component proteins, and those into their component amino acids, in order to absorb them and use them as nutrients. So eating an alcohol dehydrogenase pill would simply be a very expensive protein supplement.
