It’s different because it has a different purpose. What dentists use at the office isn’t really tooth paste to help remove debris like we would buy at a store. It’s a fine grit polishing paste with pumice in it and often flavorings to make it a bit more palatable. It makes your teeth a bit smoother, which in turn makes your own tooth brushing at home more effective – there aren’t as many rough spots for plaque or food debris to get caught on and left behind.
