why dentists use different tooth paste then what we get from the store?

It’s different because it has a different purpose. What dentists use at the office isn’t really tooth paste to help remove debris like we would buy at a store. It’s a fine grit polishing paste with pumice in it and often flavorings to make it a bit more palatable. It makes your teeth a bit smoother, which in turn makes your own tooth brushing at home more effective – there aren’t as many rough spots for plaque or food debris to get caught on and left behind.
Dentists, and dental hygienists, are trained professionals. They can use an abrasive paste that would be unsafe to use every day, or to use in the hands of an untrained patient. The abrasive has a smoothing effect that reduces further buildups.
