Admittedly I haven’t read much into it, but it seems like it would be pretty easy to build a sprinkler, put it under water, and change the flow of the water, essentially testing the problem in real life. However, from what I’ve seen, it seems like it took 40 years to actually do so. Why? Especially if the problem was so well publicized?
