We like to mix things up. Distances in miles, short measurements in metres. Speed in mph. Milk in litres, beer in pints.
Weight of people in stones, weight of vegetables in kg.

British didn’t invent the imperial system, they simply relabeled and declared their own legacy garbage that has been reused and rehashed in a nonsensical way since before written records. They abandoned it because it’s obsolete garbage. SI is superior in every way.
