Why do animals that are otherwise a-social sometimes form strong bonds with carers?

An example is I was just watching a video with a rescued shark who remembers the worker that raised it and when swimming is affectionate and playful.

Other animals, that are generally solitary, seem to often form this kind of bond with humans over long enough exposure. Why is this?

Probably because they recognize the human as non threatening and a provider of food and pets
