Because they’re not fully formed. Our bodies, and especially our brains, aren’t fully formed until we’re in our mid-twenties.

It’s the drawback to having such big brains, we can’t be born fully formed and also still be able to walk upright, the birth canal isn’t big enough to handle it

I dunno, why don’t trees just shoot out of the ground fully formed the second you put a seed into the ground? Why doesn’t the sun just immediately slam into place over our heads each day instead of slowly rising and traveling across the sky like that? Things need time to grow, a natural process needs to carry on in its own time. You start out as a pink lump of sausage meat because your bones aren’t fully formed yet, your body is still adjusting to everything and needs to develop as it will.

Being a baby as you transition from a random clump of cells to a fully realized human being is natural, you are an unstable entity changing its form with each passing second. Don’t worry about it, appreciate it while it lasts. Don’t be a dingus. Or do, I’m not the boss of you.
