Why do bodies bloat in warm water but remain more or less preserved in cold?

Temperature affects the rate at which bacteria eat/poop/reproduce, which is what creates the gas that causes dead bodies to bloat. Cold temperature slow down the rate of this, so bodies in cold temperatures won’t bloat as much as ones in warm temperatures.
