Why do breasts become shinier, for lack of a better word, after breast augmentation surgery?

I don’t know if this is a widely-known fact, but its fairly easy to tell when a person has had breast augmentation surgery because the breasts have a brighter, shinier appearance that interacts with light differently than the rest of the skin. I know for a fact that I’m not just fixating on big breasts because I looked it up and confirmed that, yes, this does happen.

But nothing about why. So why?

I would be guessing here. But generally an implant is placed on the chest wall under or over the chest wall muscle. Since the amount of glandular and fat tissue before or after implant remains the same, the implant makes the fatty tissue stretch. This in turn would make the skin stretch and give the perception of a smoother texture. Think of it like have wrinkly skin and then stretching it to make it look taut. Again , this is just an educated guess.

An analogy of that would be swelling also leads to shiny skin but that effect is way more profound.

It is probably because the skin is more taught than in unmodified skin. The result would be skin that is stretched, more uniform on the surface and those factors would make the tissue more reflective.

The skin is tight. Tight skin doesn’t show texture and it’s more reflective.

Same goes for facial skin after face lifts.

Could have to do with the skin being pulled tightly againts a larger breast than how it was normally. Just a guess tho…
