A bruise is a form of internal bleeding. So blood is spreading around the site of the injury. Inside blood is hemoglobin, the part that transports oxygen.

The hemoglobin is what looks purple. And as it starts to break down, the chemistry changes and it changes colour creating the greens and browns we see in older bruises.

Im late to this, but,i will explain it

When you bump into something you get a red bruise becuese small blood vessels rupture under your skin and the hemoglobin is showing off, after some days the bruise loses oxygen, and it will turn purple and then loses it’s color as time passes the the vessel heals
