Why do centipedes live longer than most other bugs?

Centipedes aren’t bugs, they’re arthropods belonging to the chilopoda class. And they can live up to seven years, but is that long? Splendor beetles live between 25 to 30 years.
I thought this was a joke and my dumb ass thought the punchline would be “cos they’re never on their last legs”. Back to sleep I go
