why do certain chords in music sound “better” than others?

So I don’t know a ton about music theory, but I’m curious about how this works. Why do our brains like to hear chords that are in tune? And how do we explain why something is tuned properly?

As humans we like to put things in order. Its an innate desire that presumably helped us survive. Chords are just simultaneous sounds put in order. The frequencies of different notes will sync up at some point or another, and we can tell. They faster and more frequently they sync up the more harmonious they sound.
