Why do certain smells stay in a room or location a lot longer than others?

I’ve searched this sub for the answer but I only got answers that were close to this question (like exact smells) and not the actual way things are in general.

There are a variety of reasons why some odors are detectable longer than others. Usually it has to do with the detectable limits or part per million the odor is detectable at. Styrene for example is detectable in the air at a very low ppm.
