Any drug that causes your eyes to go red is causing vasodilation, meaning that the blood vessels that are supplying them are stimulated to widen, allowing more blood to flow in and giving them a red hue.

(some) drugs make blood vessels get bigger, your eyes have blood vessels but they are just too small to see, the drugs make them expand and this makes them visible and make the eye turn “bloodshot”
