That’s “Institutional Green”

It was thought to be a calming color, so lots of prisons, hospitals, and other institutions used it.

The color was created in the early 1800’s and was very popular due to the vibrancy of the color. It was unlike any color at the time. The reason it was so striking is because it was made with arsenic which lead to many deaths.
Or at least that’s what a Drunk History episode told me earlier today…
