Why do fast cars lose control when accelerating in a straight line?

Seen many videos of fast cars (mustangs especially lol) accelerating in a straight line and then losing control and going into the curb/crowd. What would cause it to do that when the wheels are just pointed straight ahead?

How does one prevent or control this?

Usually those cars are rear wheel drive. When drivers push the pedal too hard the back wheels roll faster than the rest of the car. When 1 contact surface (the tires) is moving faster than another surface we call that “sliding” so that’s what the rear is doing.
