It’s a myth, both male and female lions hunt.

Male lions are better hunter and can hunt larger preys.

Male lions hunt by themselves typically. Sometimes with their coalition partners (other related males) if they have some. They don’t hunt with the females, which hunt together.

Only the female lion feed the cubs. This is typical in most mammal species.

Male lions will steal corpses from other predators including female lions. However, a female lion will not bring the meat to the male. The male has to find where the corpse is, chase the females away, and eat it. Male lions can do that because they are stronger than female lions.

Male and female lions interact very little besides sex. Male lion do not protect female lions. Though they do fight other males, which would kill the cubs if they can, so they protect their cubs that way, without ever interacting directly with the cubs.
