Why do flies land on humans, i get that female mosquitoes want our blood to lay eggs, but what about houseflies?

If you look closely at a fly when it lands on you, it usually starts going around and feeling your skin with it’s proboscis. Your skin has lots of tasty salts, proteins, sweat, dead skin… etc.

You are probably also a source of heat and moisture, which also attracts them.

Flies are always on the lookout for food, so they land on things and taste them. To taste them they vomit onto the surface they’ve landed on then suck it back up to get the taste.
