I’m gonna say from ages 8 to 18 for the sake of fairness here. I understand girls improving faster at first, but even in high school I remember so many guys who could not write legibly all the way through high school. Why is that and is there a way thing could be countered properly? I feel like if the answer was “practice” then 10 years of writing essays in school should do the trick.

Our balls really throw off the balance in our wrists. Lol no, people in general have bad handwriting due to physical difficulties, and/or lack of practice. If the guys you know have bad handwriting, it’s probably because they didn’t care to practice and improve
Edit: to add, repetition isn’t the same as practice. Just doing written essays only helps one improve if they are trying to improve otherwise it just locks in bad habits
It’s how we’re built. When we’re young boys have not so good fine motor control but better gross motor control than girls. This is why girls are typically better at writing, dancing, arts and crafts whereas boys will be able to run faster or throw and catch balls better than girls at a young age.
We tend to focus on getting better at the things we’re already good at as well.
It’s a social thing. Girls are encouraged to be neater and prettier even in writing, people police boys handwriting less.
Look back 100 years or more with the beautiful penmanship back then. Both men and women are capable of writing beautifully, there’s nothing genetic that says men can’t write neatly.
Simple answer is most guys don’t care if they have neat handwriting or not. Most girls do care and they work on making their writing as fancy as possible with little hearts on top of the i’s or big swirly letters etc.
How many times have you seen a guy write full pages of his name on a scrape piece of paper trying to improve their signature vs girls?
