Alcohol is broken down into acetylaldehyde which is poisonous to the body and makes you feel the nausea and vomiting. This is further broken down to acetate and then into water and carbon dioxide and removed from the body. The problem is your body can only remove 1 unit of alcohol per hour and it takes a long time for your body to remove it if you’ve had a lot to drink. Although everyone’s genetic make up is different, and some people break it down way quicker or slower. Hence why some people say they don’t get hangovers and some people are near death from drinking.

Too much alcohol is poisonous and will make you sick (hungover). Nausea is the sensation you are talking about and its a feeling associated with lots of health problems, even those which have nothing to do with digesting something dangerous. If you drink excessively you will actually throw up.
