Why do humans kiss as intimacy?

One theory posits that we learned the behavior from birds. Birds do mouth to mouth feeding, parents to offspring. At some point, humans noticed this and saw it as a sign of trust. So, we kiss those we trust. Those we trust most, we kiss on the mouth.
